Our Mission

The Black School Counseling & Admissions Association advances Black leadership across school counseling and college admissions.

We unite counselors, independent consultants, and admissions professionals to expand equitable pathways to postsecondary success while strengthening leadership, influence, and collective impact.

Our Vision

We envision a national education landscape where Black counselors and admissions leaders shape policy, practice, and power—and where Black and Brown students access, enter, and thrive in higher education without systemic barriers.

Our Position

We stand alongside organizations such as IECA, HECA, and NACAC—while intentionally centering Black leadership. Our work strengthens the entire profession by elevating perspectives too often underrepresented in national conversations. We are not an alternative. We are a home, an anchor, and an amplifier.

Founding Statement

Black counselors and admissions professionals have long played a critical role in shaping student success—guiding families, building pathways, and influencing outcomes across the college journey.

BSCAA was founded to bring that work—and the professionals behind it—into greater connection, visibility, and impact.

We exist to support and elevate Black leadership across the counseling and admissions profession—creating space for collaboration, professional growth, and shared strategy.

This is a place to build, connect, and lead alongside others who understand the work and are committed to moving it forward.

Why Now

The college access and admissions landscape is changing—rapidly.

Families are asking more complex questions.
Students need more support to navigate fit, affordability, and belonging.
Institutions are being pushed to think differently about outcomes and equity.

At the center of all of this are counselors and admissions professionals doing the day-to-day work of guiding students through it.

BSCAA was created to ensure those professionals are not doing that work in isolation—but with access to community, strategy, and opportunities to grow their influence.
